It is an uneasy Eid-ul-Fitr this year, (July 6 and 7) which marks the end of fasting in the month of Ramzan. The celebratory mood has been stained with the blood of many innocents across the Islamic crescent – ranging from Istanbul, Jeddah, Karachi, Baghdad and Dhaka among other sites. Given the scale of the Baghdad attack, (July 2 where more than 250 people were killed) Iraq is observing Eid in a muted manner. The release of the Chilcot Report in UK and its central finding that the 2003 US-UK led attack on Iraq was unjustified only heightens the anguish of the hapless Iraqi citizen.
