I’ve always been a huge fan of Japanese food, and have been keen on learning more about their culture, their music, their art and literature…so when I was presented with the opportunity to visit the country, I thought my head would explode. Tokyo bound via Bangkok, Thailand, I was excited and nervous, and the Japanese girl seated next to me began making small talk. She’d been visiting her aunt in Mumbai and was enamored with all things Indian. Genuinely surprised to find that I knew quite a bit about Japanese food, she really opened up and soon we were sharing pictures, little stories about our respective cultures and she began recommending what I ought to check out in Tokyo. When we changed planes at Bangkok, we parted ways as friends with promises to keep in touch and see each other on her next visit to India.
