Atik Vora has grown up in Dharavi, which used to be Asia’s largest slum, located in Mumbai, India. Having recently graduated from a reputed engineering college, in between searching for and applying for jobs, he conducts guided tours of his home for foreign tourists in his spare time. His story is one of hope, pride and ambition, all rolled into one. He taught himself to speak English and practically glows when complimented on his excellent diction by surprised tourists. One day he dreams of being able attend university abroad and wants to create technology that will make human life better and simpler. But no matter how far and wide his destiny takes him, he never ever wants to leave the slum permanently. After all, it’s home to him and his family, for five generations.
